If truth has lost its meaning, how long can love survive?? Evil is everywhere in Shakespeare’s great tragedy of racism and jealousy, as the love of Othello and Desdemona is destroyed by envy and fact is twisted by innuendo.? You’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat as the deadly machinations unfold.?
Shipwrecked Viola is in love with Orsino...who is in love with Olivia…who is in love with Cesario…who is secretly Viola disguised as a man. In a world turned upside down, what could possibly go wrong (or right?) Shakespeare’s beloved comedy of (mis)identity arrives in a 90-minute, no intermission romp!
AN EXPLORATION OF RACE AND SHAKESPEARE
This series will bring together scholars and artists for probing conversations about race and Shakespeare in order to grow our understanding of the many ways in which "classical" theatre and how we pursue it in America exposes and intersects with issues of social justice, systemic racism, equity, and the perpetuation of White supremacy culture while simultaneously offering a lens through which to imagine and embody positive change.
Join our Education Team and ASC artists as we take the practices of the rehearsal room and introduce them to students of all ages via online workshops.
Since audiences can’t come to the Blackfriars, ASC is bringing the Playhouse to you. Click here to learn all about BlkFrsTV and to see everything we have to offer via our brand-new streaming platform!
